Great quote from John Maxwell:
“The whole idea of motivation is a trap. Forget motivation. Just do it. Exercise, lose weight, whatever. Do it without motivation. And then, guess what? After you start doing the thing, that’s when the motivation comes and makes it easy for you to keep on doing it.”
So true! If motivation came natural, we wouldn’t become overweight, or in debt, or spiritually cold.
What are you putting off for when you feel “motivated”? Start it today and motivation will come.
It is said that motivation is temporary..Zig Ziglar answers that by saying ” So is eating and bathing, thats why we need it everyday.” I would add that motivation comes from within we just have to find the proper ladder to reach it.
so true! 🙂
zoggy is the best. hopw to get some feedback from you on my blog. just started and would love some input . thx from berlin germany 🙂
Oh I actually typed in motivation in the search box to find ideas to motivate to write a blog and yours said it perfect… JUST DO IT…. Thank you!
ViaAdris-You’re welcome. Keep writing!
Good Blog . Keep it up !
That’s what I always say to my clients… You have to DO IT rather than motivate yourself first for it will take a long time to grasp the essence of motivation and it’s easier to achieve your goal by the normal occurrence of motivation not forcing yourself to motivate… Great post!!
Very good quote! Reminds me of ” We should be taught not to wait for inspiration to start a thing. Action always generates inspiration. Inspiration seldom generates action.” –Frank Tibolt
Love your quote! … Or when you finally get inspired, there may be no time already to act:)
I typed in motivation in the search box on wordpress and I’m very glad it directed me to your blog. I haven’t had motivation since working in the real world a year and a half ago. I wasn’t like that before. I’m more of the type-A personality, but I guess the shock of the daily grind can do anyone in if they let it. Well, you motivated me. I’m gonna…just do it! Thanks.
Love your just “do it” outlook!
Like Nike says, “Just Do It!” oftentimes it is much easier said than done. If one is spiritually connected, motivation comes naturally from a true sense of being.
Well said!
“Just do it”, especially on daily bases is more about discipline. And that’s just so much harder then motivation, but it is smth which never fails. To motivate yourself is faster but lasts less, but to exercise self-discipline is harder than anything.
Though…
Motivation should not be totally forgotten. It is no good to need it in order to do any tiny action. But motivation is absolutely needed for the entire course of action. You need to know “why?” and “what for?” you are doing smth, especially if it is smth what is extremely hard to do.
Cool survey I filled out online the other day
